  • Bad Product, Horrible Service and Unhappy Employees

First off I don't blame Lifesafer for me being required to install an interlock device. I did that all on my own. However, don't think for a second you are Lifesafer's customer. Their customers are the courts, lawyers and alchohol treatment counselors...many I believe get kick backs from Lifesafer. From my experiece after they sign you up they could care less about you. Their installation reps from my experiece could care less also. Every appointment resuilted in a 2-3 hour wait with snarly, snotty people who treated me like a criminal. The device is horrible. It... • Bad service

I had my interlock device transferred to my fiances car and paid $100. It turns out we were able to start the car without blowing. I called to file a complaint due to the inconvenience of having this fixed and the representative questions me as if I'm at fault. No apology or anything. This is very unprofessional. I told her I want a complaint filed and said she would do it and let her supervisor know. But she made me feel as if I was wrong. Asking when and where I work, why I wouldn't be able to get to Orkney on time because they had to come out and fix it etc etc. my... More...

  • COLD WEATHER

I have not been able to drive to work twice in the past week due to the cold weather. I've called in and I have been instructed to do a few things, which I have complied with and taken a few extra precautions. I have been told to take out the mouth piece, turn my device upside down at night and wrap it in a towel. In the morning I put an electric blanet and a heat pack on the device to try and warm it up and even pat it on the back 20 times as instucted. It still wont let me start my vehcial. I have spend 45 mins to an hour trying to get it to let me start my vehical. I'm going to... More...

  • Cold Weather and Service lights

My first bad experience was when I was inside a couple mins longer than anticipated and I went out to my car to find the alarm going off, so I blew into to get it started. My technician doesn't like working on Dodge vehicals so he said he didn't hook it up to have the Horn alarm go off. I had to take time off my new job to have my interlock reset because it wasn't installed correctly. Secondly, I have not been able to drive to work twice now in a week because my interlock gets to cold. I do everything they say, take off the mouth piece, put it upside down, and wrap a towel... • LifeSafer Interlock

I have no idea what any of these people are talking about regarding complaints with the interlock device. I have one week left before it is removed, and I have not had one issue. It's pretty simple, don't drink alcohol, be careful with Irish cream coffee, mouthwash, etc, and you will have no issues. Blow to start it, blow again in the next 6-10 minutes, and then blow every 30-45 minutes if you are driving for awhile. I had a few aborts, only because I did not blow correctly. It is pretty straight forward! And by the way, the service center I go to is helpful and accommodating. It... More...

  • Lifesafer fails as a company and a device.

The device constantly malfunctions and the interlock customer service is horrible. The device will signal a test pass and then begin requesting a test immediately afterwards. It does this at random. The warm up time for this device is much longer than other devices that I've observed. Also, abort frequency and false failure seems to be much higher. Over the phone and technical customer service is very unprofessional. I had my device installed on February 6. Two months later, with continued encouragement, Washington State has still failed to receive any paperwork. This is... More...

  • Device & Company is a bogus product/company

A former employee of the LifeSafer company. I was forced to lie to the consumer about the product. It had major defects in the system since October 2012 and it was NOT disclosed to me or the employees of the company. The company lied to me too. They blamed the consumer on the fails and lockout's when it was the product and not the consumer. The consumer's need to contact the BBB, Consumer Affairs, and their State Atty General's office to make a formal complaint. We all need to contact 60 minutes or the local television stations to do a major investigation on the company... More...

I had this lifesafer IID installed about a year ago. Actually I have four days left before I can have it removed.
I had a local garage in Connecticut install it. They were great. No problems and took the time to demonstrate how to use it. Also explained to two other family members that would be driving my vehicle from time to time.
I did have some problems with the unit aborting a number of times. I actually got three violations for "failure to submit to a rolling retest". Basically what the problem was that they said I was blowing into it incorrectly. When this happens you get a service and lockout warning and have to return to the garage to have it reset ( a cost of app. $50 and a month gets added on each violation. (also gets reported to probation if you are on it) The issue I had was that when these violations occurred i had successfully blown into the device hundreds of times. I did get a copy of the reports and was able to show that I did infact keep trying to blow into the device. I did not think I had done anything differently. Any way I was able to get these 3 violations taken off.
I does take some time to start on cold mornings but you have to take that into consideration and go out to your car earlier.
I did also blow into the device after drinking at night and it "failed". I just shut the car off and later on I was able to start it. It made the "service light" and the "lockout" light blink. I had to take the device back to the service station and have it reset. I did not get any violation from DMV in Connecticut. I was surprised and felt pretty lucky.
Overall it was a pain in the ass but well worth it when you consider you are able to drive.
I do drink sometimes but give myself plenty of time to get the alcohol out of my system before I try and start the vehicle.
I use this website as a guide of when I am able to safely start and drive my truck
http://www.countcalculate.com/body/sober-after-alcohol-consumption
Its just a guide and I am not telling anyone to drink.
Again, I was the person who drank and drove and deserved everything that I got. Overall I had a good experience with LifeSafer and the service station that installed it

Worst e/perience ever! I've had 2 issues within a week because the technician that transferred to my new vehicle didn't install it properly. People on 800 number are rudej and treat you like you don't know what u are talking about. Never again!

I agree 100% the customer service center you call sucks, but I have never had a problem with the unit going on 2 years. If you think this unit is bad, try Intoxilock. I had both and I would highly recommend Lifesafer if you can tolerate the customer service.
As for the lifesafer unit, you can request a program start time during the cold, plan to get in the car a few minutes later and it would start quickly. You also can put the key in the ignition, turn to start the unit then remove your key and go back inside. Give it about ten minutes and it should start right away. The unit is black and discreet, the Interlock is white and the size of a paperback. But good luck in whichever model you choose, just don't drink and drive.

This product is a trap I'm from New York ,its my first time with dwi I have probation and this product has destroyed my chance at early discharge from probation it malfunctions all the time ,aborts everything makes this this fail. food, hand sanitizer, tile adhesive candy also if you send your car for service the techs are not gonna blow for you so that's a fail. probation won't believe that your telling the truth it seems Everyone is in on the take i dall and ask for people by name (mary ellen) amoung others they say they will document it lifesafer doesn't document when I call with a complaint I really don't know what to do its really a crime. Its not enough to take responsibility for the mistake you made but this is jail outside of jail just a cash game So much for second chances lifesafer is destroying lives across the world just to line there pockets period.

It sucks to have this in my truck, but I am the one that got arrested for DUI. l learned my lesson and will move on down the road next week when it is removed.

I AM IN TOTAL AGREEMENT WITH EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE COMPLAINTS BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL AND I STILL HAVE THE INTERLOCK DEVICE IN MY VEHICLE ONLY BECAUSE I'VE BEEN ORDERED BY THE DMV NOT THE STATE OF MARYLAND BECAUSE I WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY BY COURT BUT IN MARYLAND, THE DMV IS LIKE ITS OWN ENTITY :( IF THERE WAS ANOTHER INTERLOCK COMPANY IN MARYLAND.... I WOULD'VE CHANGED COMPANIES ALREADY.... AND I WOULD SUGGEST OTHER ALTERNATIVES

Just finished up a year with this thing. Very slow when cold. A few episodes of multiple aborts that were frustrating but eventual passes. Never had a warning or fail as I don't drink. I ate and drank coffee etc. when in the car with no problems, Extremely professorial managers in Tempe AZ. One installer guy was kind of a dickhead but he was gone after a while. So overall I would recommend this product and the Tempe Office. I was worried about all the crap I read about false fails and so forth but as lomg as you don't have alcohol in you you will be good as gold.
