  • lIfesaver is a money drainer

I have now gone through 2 batteries that the device has drained. Just before it drained my second battery I got up to go to work. I am a housekeeper and carry my own supplies. I didn't realize that my broom handle had put pressure down on my aerosol stainless steel cleaner so when I got in my car 5 min later the odor was really strong. I decided I would wait till after work to clean the mess. I did my start up blow and got a fail. I knew it must be the spray so I opened the windows and doors and let it air out a few minutes and tried again. This time I got a warn. I drove to work and... More...
  • Lifesaver is awful

I've had multiple issues with this device so I'll just list them. Dead batteries (had to purchase new ones)- radio CD player clock not working- permanently locked out for no reason- long wait times for warm up (30 minutes) -horn blowing uncontrollably - failed test without alcohol in my system- lights on dashboard quit working- poor customer service. It seems that they take no responsibility for their own faulty equipment (always the customers fault which means more%uD83D%uDCB2%uD83D%uDCB2%uD83D%uDCB2. • Lifesafer drains battery

I have had battery issues lately. The first time my car died I had it towed to the Interlock service center. They said everything checked out and jump started my car. I continued to have multiple issues with a drained battery. Never knew if when I went to start my car (a 2015 Mazda CX5) if it would actually start. I finally took it to the dealer out of desperation. The car died in their bay waiting for them to get in contact with Lifesafer to be able to disconnect the battery. They put in a new battery and once they connected the handset there was an abnormal amount of draw. They... More...

What a joke and a piece of crap. I go out this morning and blew into it I of course pass and then my vehicle won't start....... It then says low battery, I am pretty sure there was nothing wrong with my battery before the install. So sitting outside where it is -16 it then says it is warming up and that was going to take 4:23 minutes LMFAO YET it said low battery. SO OF COURSE it is going to have a low battery if it continuously draws power to then tell me I am not humming loud enough. It never said anything about low battery yesterday when I was out or when I got home. More...

  • Frustrated beyond belief

This has been the most frustrating piece of crap I have ever had to deal with. After a week of the installation, I got in my car after work (car is only a year old and battery tested strong upon installation) and turn my car on enough to power the device. NOTHING. I called the place of installation and they couldn't help. I called Life Safer and because I live in EST and the office is in CST, it took 15 minutes to get a tech on the phone. Of course, he was no help. There I sat in a 95 degree car which only added to my anger. I called my daughter to come pick me up and thought I... More...

Horrible customer service and unsafe device. Constantly aborts, always beeping even in traffic so while your driving your constantly humming and blowing. It stays on 24/7 and will drain your battery. Tech support forget about it, no compassion, uncivil, and every time there is a issue its your fault. Don't expect any help after hours or on weekends they tell you there is but lie, and lie after lie. If I would of took the time to read these reviews I would of save myself so much misery, frustration, and stress. Better Business Bureau I will be calling on Monday and I've already... More...

  • They don't show up for appointments!!

My sons truck broke down so I called because he was going to miss scheduled appointment. They said that was fine since I called ahead and let them know. Several weeks later they lock him out of his truck. We call and pay to have a service tech come out to house. Appt was on Friday, they didn't show. They said would come Monday...didn't show, same with Tuesday. Called and they assured someone would come on Friday. Didn't come on Friday either. Tech calls me early Saturday morning and I missed the call. Called him back 7 measly minutes later and it went straight to... More...

I have spent so much time, money and missed work due to cold weather and the interlock device. We have had a really bad cold spell and it has ruined my batteries, gave false readings and forced me to go to the shop to reset constantly. I had a bad unit originally, now I understand from research anything below 5 degrees the camera or hanset won't work. If I can't START my car to warm it what am I to do? I've heard of all sorts of tricks such as wrap it in a towel and hand warmers, but that doesn't help the camera. Please tell me what to do as the current temperature here... More...
  • constant malfuction

Hello. I haven't had the interlock device for even a month and I've already been back to the installer. Camera stopped working, test wait was 5 minutes per rotation (I live in Rochester, NY - pretty cold this time of year) Life Safer was not helpful when I was stranded for an hour by the side of the road (common occurrence) The woman just sat on phone with me while I waited another 20 minutes to get my car started. Heard there was a computer glitch on Life Safer's end from the service store. Should have notified me. I am the primary caregiver for my 86 year old father... More...

Sent all my paperwork to them paid for the month and after speaking with customer service department they are not sure if they can prorate what I have paid and get money back, or will this have to go towards removal fee for them to get that piece of junk out of my car. • Terrible Customer Service!

I unfortunately have to have the Interlock device with camera and GPS. Oh well though at least I'm able to get myself to work and keep a job. My complaint is that if you ever need anything after hours or on the weekend you can forget it! Its cold here in Missouri right now, and apparently this cheaply made device can't handle it. The other night my fiance drove my car to the store. He comes out and there is a terribly loud noise coming from my car (caused by the device) this is the second time this has happened! • Don't get it if you live an area whcih goes below 20 degrees

State law is 3 Camera no picture lockouts. Lifesafer standards are ONE. Since the device when it gets Cold outside does not see the camera you need to get the device reset within 5 days or your call will need to be towed. Summer no problem, Winter this device is really a major league poorly designed device. I had the non-camera model in the past with no issues. The Camera model needs to be reset every week due to cold weather and no it is not my charging system and/or battery which prevents the unit from seeing the camera, it is a poorly designed product which does not work in COLD weather.... • Unsafe to use

I recently made a very poor choice and got behind the wheel of my car after I had been drinking. As a result of that poor choice I am now in a diversion program in Oregon. As part of that diversion program I am required to have an Ignition Interlock device installed on my car. Although I agree with the concept, I believe this device is very unsafe and creates a dangerous driving distraction. I totally agree with having to provide a proper breath sample to get the car to start BUT due to people trying to circumvent the system you have to retest again at 5 minutes and every 30 minutes after... • Not life safer but lifesevere

I have used life safer II for 6 months. At the location where I was getting the service, they were not telling me when the due date was, they did not put anything on the invoice either. I know, the instrument(II) signals by flushing a light but it does not exactly tell you when is the right date to go. I used to pay at certain date and assumed that I had to go at that time. But I do not know how changed the date and expected me to go there before 3 days of my normal time. As I thought my service day way as usual, I could not take the car to the shop and it finally locked out. They have a 5... More...

  • Faulty interlock device bad customer service

Lifesafer Interlock Inc installs faulty devices on your vehicle so you can pay them more money, the device I have has locked me out 4 days before my install appointment and their customer service people could care less, all they want to do is send a mobile tech to my home for an additional $85.00. It makes no sense that this device has so much control over your car / life. I called to file a complaint due to the inconvenience of having this fixed and the representative questions me as if I'm at fault. No apology or anything. This is very unprofessional. In the morning I put an electric blanet and a heat pack on the device to try and warm it up and even pat it on the back 20 times as instucted. It still wont let me start my vehcial. I have no idea what any of these people are talking about regarding complaints with the interlock device. I have one week left before it is removed, and I have not had one issue. It's pretty simple, don't drink alcohol, be careful with Irish cream coffee, mouthwash, etc, and you will have no issues. Blow to start it, blow again in the next 6-10 minutes, and then blow every 30-45 minutes if you are driving for awhile. I had a few aborts, only because I did not blow correctly. It is pretty straight forward! And by the way, the service center I go to is helpful and accommodating. It... More...

  • Lifesafer fails as a company and a device.

The device constantly malfunctions and the interlock customer service is horrible. The device will signal a test pass and then begin requesting a test immediately afterwards. It does this at random. The warm up time for this device is much longer than other devices that I've observed. Also, abort frequency and false failure seems to be much higher. Over the phone and technical customer service is very unprofessional. I had my device installed on February 6. Two months later, with continued encouragement, Washington State has still failed to receive any paperwork. This is... More...

A former employee of the LifeSafer company. I was forced to lie to the consumer about the product. It had major defects in the system since October 2012 and it was NOT disclosed to me or the employees of the company. The company lied to me too. Biggest piece of shit ever. Cold weather freezes it, and locks it up. Had to get car towed with the promise that they would reemburse me. Then pretended it was not their problem. Complete scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yourinterlocksucks says: (4 years ago)
Not only does it take 10 minutes to start up, but my interlock would not even begin warming up after turning the key in the ignition. I sat outside of my work place for 2 hours in 15 degree weather and it finally started flashing wait. This device is the biggest headache ever and I would push my luck driving without one and risk getting driving under suspension before I installed another Lifesafer interlock.

I just attempted to to start my car. My device took at least 10 minutes to even read blow.....not only did it give me a false fail ~ It did so once I had already takin my keys out of the ignition due to frustration. IRRITATING!!! two & 1/2 mo. In and seem to have more issues as timer passes.... there has got to be a better product out there.

My lifesafer will continue to request a rolling retest even after I've shut the ignition off (I have pushbutton start). Wonder if that is why I was cited for not responding. Evidently I had walked away from the car when it was turned off and the unit continued to request a blow test. Common problem?

Pytpretty says: (5 years ago)
Do not install this product in your car. It is the most inconvenient piece of junk. It consistently takes 3 blows to process. It has on numerous occasions asked me to blow after turning off my ignition. It is at minimum a 3 to 5 minute wait to start car. 3 minutes is a long time when u think about how many times u get in out of car. Please investigate and chose wisely

My husband had lifesafer installed and after a few months got a letter that they where no longer servicing our area. He went to another vendor and had another device installed. He took the unit to another lifesafer installer and returned the unit (they didn't give any type of receipt) and now they are threatening to turn us over to a collection agency, have him re-do all of his probation and cost and have his license revoked. The original dealer closed down so he had to return it to another one. They want $1,000.00 for the unit. He has called several times (and they were all very rude) only to be told that they couldn't just take his word for it being returned and that his license were revoked. He called DMV to be told that they weren't, thank the Lord. He made a trip back to the dealer that he returned it too only to be told that they didn't remember him and the unit would have been sent back already. They throw all of the returns in boxes without any paperwork. The guy went through some of the boxes and couldn't find my husbands, however, it had been a couple of months since he returned it. While my husband was in the business another lady came in having the same problems, however, she was lucky as they hadn't sent her's out and found hers. What a living nightmare this has been. I will be contacting the BBB and the state's attorney's office to file a complaint. Why would anyone in their right mind want to keep the product???? The other company that he is currently using is cheaper and even though he has had some problems with the unit itself they have never charged him to reset it. I truly believe this is a scam to get more money. Every time we have called he gets the same run around. I'm sure we will end up having to pay for something that WAS returned so that my husband can keep his license. I hope that somehow, someway this company is investigated for it's unprofessional behavior!!

I had this lifesafer IID installed about a year ago. Actually I have four days left before I can have it removed.
I had a local garage in Connecticut install it. They were great. No problems and took the time to demonstrate how to use it. Also explained to two other family members that would be driving my vehicle from time to time.
I did have some problems with the unit aborting a number of times. I actually got three violations for "failure to submit to a rolling retest". Basically what the problem was that they said I was blowing into it incorrectly. When this happens you get a service and lockout warning and have to return to the garage to have it reset ( a cost of app. $50 and a month gets added on each violation. (also gets reported to probation if you are on it) The issue I had was that when these violations occurred i had successfully blown into the device hundreds of times. I did get a copy of the reports and was able to show that I did infact keep trying to blow into the device. I did not think I had done anything differently. Any way I was able to get these 3 violations taken off.
I does take some time to start on cold mornings but you have to take that into consideration and go out to your car earlier.
I did also blow into the device after drinking at night and it "failed". I just shut the car off and later on I was able to start it. It made the "service light" and the "lockout" light blink. I had to take the device back to the service station and have it reset. I did not get any violation from DMV in Connecticut. I was surprised and felt pretty lucky.
Overall it was a pain in the ass but well worth it when you consider you are able to drive.
I do drink sometimes but give myself plenty of time to get the alcohol out of my system before I try and start the vehicle.
I use this website as a guide of when I am able to safely start and drive my truck
Its just a guide and I am not telling anyone to drink.
Again, I was the person who drank and drove and deserved everything that I got. Overall I had a good experience with LifeSafer and the service station that installed it

I agree 100% the customer service center you call sucks, but I have never had a problem with the unit going on 2 years. If you think this unit is bad, try Intoxilock. I had both and I would highly recommend Lifesafer if you can tolerate the customer service.
As for the lifesafer unit, you can request a program start time during the cold, plan to get in the car a few minutes later and it would start quickly. You also can put the key in the ignition, turn to start the unit then remove your key and go back inside. Give it about ten minutes and it should start right away. The unit is black and discreet, the Interlock is white and the size of a paperback. But good luck in whichever model you choose, just don't drink and drive.

This product is a trap I'm from New York ,its my first time with dwi I have probation and this product has destroyed my chance at early discharge from probation it malfunctions all the time ,aborts everything makes this this fail. food, hand sanitizer, tile adhesive candy also if you send your car for service the techs are not gonna blow for you so that's a fail. probation won't believe that your telling the truth it seems Everyone is in on the take i dall and ask for people by name (mary ellen) amoung others they say they will document it lifesafer doesn't document when I call with a complaint I really don't know what to do its really a crime. Its not enough to take responsibility for the mistake you made but this is jail outside of jail just a cash game So much for second chances lifesafer is destroying lives across the world just to line there pockets period.

Just finished up a year with this thing. Very slow when cold. A few episodes of multiple aborts that were frustrating but eventual passes. Never had a warning or fail as I don't drink. I ate and drank coffee etc. when in the car with no problems, Extremely professorial managers in Tempe AZ. One installer guy was kind of a dickhead but he was gone after a while. So overall I would recommend this product and the Tempe Office. I was worried about all the crap I read about false fails and so forth but as lomg as you don't have alcohol in you you will be good as gold.
